Yoga and Pilates for Teens

Looking after ourselves physically, mentally and emotionally is important throughout the life cycle. Probably no more so than in the teenage years. This is a time when we start to develop independence and autonomy. Physically the body is going through many changes, mentally the brain is often trying to keep up. There are outside pressures from school, peers and trying to make decisions that will impact later life. It is also often a time when many either get into more competitive sports or stop sports altogether. This will impact on body weight and shape, emotional reactions and relationships.

Practicing yoga, Pilates and mindfulness can be the perfect antidote for all the stresses of teenage life, it starts teens on a journey of wellness and selfcare. Pilates and yoga classes can be a great way to meet likeminded people and switch off from daily stressors. Through movement and breathing you can learn tools that can help you cope emotionally as well as improving the body physically. For those engaged in competitive sports these classes are a great way to improve flexibility and endurance and can improve your performance and reduce the risk of injury. At CCK we run workshops for specific sports such as dancing, camogie & football, to teach the strengthening and stretching exercises beneficial for your chosen sport, as well as weekly teen classes now online
